The Original Factory Code Blend

When a company works on any new cigar blend, the cigars are often labeled with different codes. New blends may have 20-30 different variations before settling on one. That is exactly what occurred with the LB1 from Rocky Patel as it was being created in their factory in Honduras. The company found the perfect blend and decided to keep the original code as the final name.

Packaged in a simple wooden box, the Rocky Patel LB1 features a dark and oily looking Habano wrapper from Ecuador. Inside you'll find binder and filler tobaccos from Nicaragua. The band consists of white and copper colored subtle artwork which originated in India.

Cut & Cold Draw:

The foot of the cigar at first offers a wooden sweetness mixed with subtle red pepper on a cold draw.  Easy draw with no air flow restrictions. Light weight feel in the mouth when held solely by the teeth and lips. 

Toast & Light:

Once the cigar is toasted and lit the red pepper notes are more dominant especially on the nose. After a proper light citrus starts to develop with the first few minutes of puffing, later mixed with leather notes and a light milk chocolate sweetness. The citrus dissipates on the palate in the final third of the cigar leaving the leather, chocolate and pepper.  The aroma of smoke in the air is light and crisp, and when after a proper initial light of your cigar the smoke doesn't leave any hard heavy odors in the air, but rather the kind a women walks through and says she likes the smell. 

Thoughts:

A well constructed solid medium bodied cigar. Great with a morning coffee or for those looking to step up from their "Connecticut" status.  Prefer darker cigars? Recommend you try a pleasant change when your dialed in for a simple combination of flavors that wont leave you feeling buzzed because you decided to smoke on an empty stomach.
